HTC One Max to get fingerprint scanner, leaked pics suggest

New leaked images suggest that the HTC One Max could get a fingerprint scanner on the back.

As Digital Spy reveals, the phablet popped up on Chinese social network website Weibo showing an unidentified grey square below the device's camera.

A fingerprint scanner would follow in the footsteps of Apple's recently unveiled iPhone 5S, which has the technology built into its home button.

One of the new photos reveals that the code name for the phone is HTC 8088 and it will support GSM and LTE pipelines. The handset is expected to come to market with a 5.9 inch glass with 1080 x 1920 resolution (FHD for those who like three letter abbreviations) and a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor under the hood. 2GB of RAM is on board along with 16GB of native storage. A microSD slot is available and a very un-HTC like 3300mAh battery powers the unit, Phone Arena said.

Details of the HTC One Max's price and release date are yet to be announced.

HTC was rumoured to be revealing the device at the IFA show in Berlin, but the speculation proved unfounded.
