Armenia lifts visa requirements for Montenegrin diplomats

The Armenian government approved Thursday, Sept 26, a decision to sign an agreement with Montenegro, abolishing visa requirements for Montenegrin diplomats.

The agreement is expected to promote relations with Montenegro and encourage mutual visits.

Pursuant to the governmental decree of October 4, 2012, the citizens of the EU member-states and the Schengen Acquis states were exempted from the visa requirement for travel to and stay in the Republic of Armenia beginning from January 10, 2013.

According to the planned agreement with the EU for citizens of Armenia will be provided to facilitate the procedure for obtaining Schengen visas. The simplified procedure is provided for members of official delegations, researchers, students, journalists, sports and the arts, close relatives of citizens legally residing in the EU. It is also envisaged to reduce visa costs 35 euros and make it free for these categories, as well as for children and pensioners.
