PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon said he’s looking forward to the next meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian delegations, APA reported.

“As you know, my mandate as PACE President will expire in January next year. I am looking forward to the next meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian delegations in the near future. But I’m not sure that such a meeting will be held as a part of this session,” PACE President said commenting on a possibility of a meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian delegations to be held by PACE Subcommittee on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

He cited lack of time and tight schedule as the reasons: “I don’t believe that we will have time for the meeting, but I will do my best to organize a meeting between the two countries’ delegations. This issue is a significant part of my mandate as the PACE President and I’m very pleased with such an achievement.”

Today, (September 30) Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan left for France to attend the PACE fall session in Strasbourg.

Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will hold rush debates on Syria October 3, Thursday. Alexey Pushkov, head of the Russian delegation to PACE, told journalists that “as expected, PACE has made a decision to hold rush debates on Syria,” adding that the Assembly will adopt a resolution on the Syrian issue.

Reforms in monitoring procedure will also be discussed at the PACE session.
