Armenia posts 6,1% upsurge in bread prices

Armenia posted a 6,1% increase in prices for bakery products in September 2013 against the same period in 2012.

According to the National Statistical Service, a 0,3% drop was reported in September against August, with the decrease prompted by a 1,4%-1,7% drop in flour prices as well as a 0,8% and 0,3% drop in grain and buckwheat prices.

196,5 thous. tons of bread was manufactured in January-August 2013, with a 1% drop posted against the same period in 2012. 24,3 thous. tons of bread was manufactured in August.

In the reporting period, flour produced in Armenia decreased by 35,1% to total 92 752 tons against 141 841 tons in 2012.

Confectionery production grew by 14,8% against January- August 2012 to total 9 909 tons.

Macaroni foods production increased by 18,4% to total 2 512 tons, with cereals production dropping 24,4% to total 360,1 tons.
