Results of Azeri presidential poll posted a day before elections

Information on the results of the presidential vote in Azerbaijan was posted at social networks before the actual October 9 polls, a journalist Movsun Hajiyev said in a blog at Echo of Moscow.

According to the source, the results of the poll were indicated in iPhone and Android apps developed by Happy Baku company, with the Central Election Committee also rumored to be involved in their development.

According to the applications activated on October 8, current leader Ilham Aliyev garnered 72,76% of votes, while the opposition candidate Camil Hasanli got 7,4% of votes.

The results were posted, the journalist said, due to a technical mistake.

The Meydan TV Azeri source journalists noticed the information: screenshots were made and posted at Facebook. Later, Happy Baku CEO Vusal Isayev got in touch with the Meydan TV to try and talk him into removing the screenshots. However, he got a refusal.

Azeri presidential vote launched Wednesday, October 9, 8 am local time. According to CEC, as of 10 am, voter turnout totaled 18%.

The opposition candidate already complained about election frauds, with mass inputs of ballot paper noted. “Unfortunately lots of officials are involved in the fraud,” Lenta.ru quoted him as saying.
