Facebook went partially down, with users unable to post status updates, photos, or like things. Messaging is available.

When users try to post status updates, they’ll receive a message explaining that there was a problem, and to try again later. The same is true for likes and photo posts. The outage also seems to be affecting the native iOS app, TechCrunch says.

Facebook has confirmed to us that it is investigating, but it is too early for it to say what is the problem.

According to the Inquirer, Iain Mackenzie, pan-euro communications manager for Facebook, has posted a message at Twitter about the downtime. He might also have attempted to post it on his employer's website, we can't say.

"We are aware that some people are having problems posting to Facebook and we're looking into it," he said.
