Martin Scorcese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” gets Christmas release date

Leonardo DiCaprio's The Wolf of Wall Street has received a Christmas 2013 release date, Digital Spy said.

The Martin Scorcese film tells the story of real-life stockbroker Jordan Belfort, who during the 1990s was involved with a series of criminal practices on Wall Street, some involving the mafia.

Starring DiCaprio with Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey in supporting roles, the movie has been delayed several times.

Originally set for a November release, the film was pushed back in September, in order to avoid interference with the debut of Chris Pine's Jack Ryan movie.

According to Ropes of Silicon, the studio has now decided to debut the movie December 25, 2013, putting it in the right window for potential Oscar nominations.

Most recently seen in The Great Gatsby, DiCaprio hinted earlier this year plans to take a hiatus from acting.
