OSCE MG co-chair: Azeri President ready to meet Armenian leader

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is ready to meet his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan to continue with the Karabah conflict settlement dialogue, the Russian co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group said.

As Igor Popov told journalists in Baku, the Presidents’ meeting might take place before the yearend, Interfax reported.

OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, ambassadors James Warlick of the United States, Igor Popov of Russia and Jacques Faure of France arrived in South Caucasus on November 4 to prepare a meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents. The co-chairs are due to travel from Baku to Yerevan on the same day to meet Armenian leader Serzh Sargsyan.

As James Warlick posted earlier on his Twitter page, “I'm in Baku and look forward to meeting with President Aliyev. We need to talk seriously about the way forward on Nagorno Karabakh.”

He further questioned, “is there a confidence building measure between Armenia and Azerbaijan that both sides could accept?”
