K5 nabs “Big Bang Theory” star comedy “We’ll Never Have Paris”

Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur’s K5 Intl. has acquired all international rights to comedy “We’ll Never Have Paris” the directorial debut from Simon Helberg, who plays Howard Wolowitz on “The Big Bang Theory.” K5 will kick-off sales at the AFM, Variety reported.

The pic follows the hyper-neurotic Quinn Berman (Helberg), who enters into a quarter-life crisis when his co-worker Kelsey (Grace), a tall, hot, blonde, confesses her love for him, just moments before he plans to propose to his girlfriend, Devon (Lynskey). His life is thrown into a tailspin when Devon leaves him and takes off for Paris. In a noble effort to win her back, Quinn follows her to the city of love, only to discover that she has developed feelings for a French violin virtuoso.

The screenplay was penned by Helberg, who also plays the lead. The pic, which was co-directed by actor/director Jocelyn Towne (pictured above with Helberg), also stars Zachary Quinto (“Star Trek”), Alfred Molina (“The Da Vinci Code,” “Spiderman 2”), Melanie Lynskey (“Up in the Air,” “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”), Jason Ritter (“Parenthood,” “Joan of Arcadia”) and Maggie Grace (“Taken,” “The Twilight Saga”).

“Jocelyn and I have attempted to tell a story about the complete and utter destruction of our relationship,” Helberg said.

The pic is produced by Robert Ogden Barnum (“All Is Lost,” “Lawless,” “Margin Call”) of e2b Capital and Katie Mustard (“The Greatest,” “Night Catches Us”), along with Helberg and Towne. Marc Platt is exec producing alongside Daniel Wagner of BiFrost Pictures, Steffen Aumuller and Zulfikar Guzelgun of The Bridge Finance Company, Kevin Frakes, Cassian Elwes, Judd Rubin, Hollis Hill, Rodney Baty and Carrie Menke.

The deal was negotiated by Barnum on behalf of the production, and Baur on behalf of K5.

“Simon’s laugh out loud script rounded out with wonderful performances from a grade ‘A’ cast make this the perfect romantic comedy,” said K5’s Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur.

Dog-Eared Pictures and K5 will present in association with H3 Films, BiFrost Pictures, Bridge Finance Company and e2b Capital.
