Aerosmith will close Download Festival 2014, Digital Spy said.

The band have been confirmed as the third headliner for the event, topping the main stage on June 15 with Alter Bridge as their main support.

Guitarist Joe Perry said of the band's first UK show since 2010: "It's been too long since we've been to England and we're sincerely charged to be coming back! See you there."

Aerosmith join previously-announced headliners Linkin Park, who will play their breakthrough album Hybrid Theory in full as part of their set, with support from Fall Out Boy.

Other headliners are Avenged Sevenfold, with Rob Zombie also to perform.

Download Festival 2014 takes place between June 13 and 15 at Donington Park, England.
