Belgium’s Museum of Ixelles is currently presenting an exhibition in tribute to Hungarian-born visual artist Victor Vasarely (b.1906, d. 1997), to run until 19 January 2014, Art Media Agency reported.

Regarded as a key figure in Op Art, Vasarely produced abstract, geometric works, which had a demonstrable effect on artistic creation in the second half of the 20th century. Placing a strong focus on composition, Vasarely combined, fitted and assembled his works using interchanging colours, shapes and geometric systems. The naturalised French artist nurtured a very accomplished vision of a total and committed form of art.

Works on display have been brought together from across Europe. Curated by Serge Lemoine, the show seeks to re-examine the Vasarely œuvre – considered to be progressive at both the time of its production, and today. .
