Russian-Armenian Partnership Important Factor for Peace and Stability in Caucasus
During the talks between Russian and Armenian Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Vartan Oskanian that were held in a traditional atmosphere of sincerity and mutual understanding the parties exchanged views on the principal directions of bilateral cooperation. They also expressed mutual satisfaction with the intensity of the political dialogue, the positive dynamics of the trade and economic ties and interdepartmental cooperation, reported the RA MFA press office.

Sergey Lavrov and Vartan Oskanian also accented the necessity of activating the interaction between Russia and Armenia within the UN, OSCE and the Council of Europe. The high level of cooperation within the CIS and CSTO was as well mentioned.

The parties voiced satisfaction that the problem of the gas price was settled and mutually admissible agreements on the further cooperation in the energy sphere achieved.

The parties showed concern in the further deepening of the Russian-Armenian strategic partnership which is an important factor for maintenance of peace and stability in the Caucasus. They also referred to a number of urgent issues including the conduction of the Year of Armenia in Russia in 2006 and fulfillment of the agreements on bilateral cooperation.
