Man threatens to kill himself near Turkish parliament

Turkish police detained Wednesday, Nov 13, a man in front of an entrance to the parliament building after he threatened to kill himself, Hurriyet Daily News reported.

The man was parked in front of the Parliament entrance holding a gun to his head inside of his car. After an hour-and-a-half of dissuasion efforts from both the police and a psychologist from the parliament’s medical center, he was detained.

The man, identified as Ö.F.B., reportedly said he had been defrauded by the mafia and asked for help from Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The car was surrounded by police officers who tried to dissuade the man from killing himself, while several police sharpshooters also took positions to secure the area.
