The documentary The Act of Killing has won the 2013 Puma Impact Award, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The film examines the 1965–66 genocide in Indonesia, and fundamentally changed how the events were perceived in the country and abroad, according to the award's jury.

The prize, presented by Puma and BRITDOC, was awarded at the TimesCenter in New York City.

“Congratulations to the team behind The Act of Killing on winning the 2013 PUMA Impact Award. PUMA is proud to support films that are creating fast tangible impact on important social and environmental issues," said Puma CEO Bjoern Gulden.

The filmmakers received a €50,000 ($67,340.00) prize.

Other films on the shortlist for the award, now in its third year, included Bully, Give Up Tomorrow, The Interrupters and The Invisible War.
