Presidential talks in Vienna arranged for form’s sake – expert

The Vienna-hosted meeting of the Armenian and Azeri Presidents did not and could not bring any results, being arranged purely for form's sake, a Russian political analyst said.

As Alexander Skakov told PanARMENIAN.Net, "neither Armenia (which was, obviously, given certain guarantees by Russia following decision to join the Customs Union) nor Azerbaijan (with new presidential elections leading to no major unrest) feel any necessity for mutual compromise, satisfied with the existing status quo."

“World powers represented by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs seem to share the sentiment, Karabakh being far from a priority on their agendas. So there’s been no reason to expect any breakthrough at the Vienna meeting,” the expert stressed.
