Jane Got a Gun has been handed a release date from Relativity Media, according to Digital Spy.

Natalie Portman will star in the upcoming Western from August 29, 2014 in the U.S. A UK release date is yet to be confirmed.

Gavin O'Connor is director on the project, after replacing original director Lynne Ramsay back in March. Ramsay has recently been sued by the film's producers after she quit without notice on the first day of production.

Portman stars as a woman who seeks an ex-lover to help save her outlaw husband (Noah Emmerich) from a gang who want to kill him.

Joel Edgerton will play the ex-lover, while Ewan McGregor plays the leader of the criminal gang.

Natalie Portman currently stars as Jane Foster in Thor 2: The Dark World.
