Scandinavian stars join “Game of Thrones” actor in “A Second Chance”

Scandinavian actors Maria Bonnevie, Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Ulrich Thomsen are joining Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in A Second Chance, the new Danish drama from Oscar-winning director Susanne Bier (In a Better World), The Hollywood Reporter said.

The film, which has just started shooting on location in Denmark, reteams Bier with her In a Better World co-screenwriter Anders Thomas Jensen. The drama is being described as a story about how far decent human beings are willing to go when tragedy blurs the line between just and unjust.

A star in Denmark, Nikolaj Lie Kaas is a topliner on current Danish box-office hit The Keeper of Lost Causes and will co-star in Daniel Espinosa's upcoming thriller Child 44 alongside Tom Hardy and Joel Kinnaman.

Thomsen, whose international breakthrough was Thomas Vinterberg's 1998 drama The Celebration and who co-starred in In a Better World, is currently on screen in the HBO series Banshee.

Swedish/Norwegian actress Bonnevie’s credits include Christoffer Boe's Reconstruction (2003) and Glenio Bonder's literary adaptation Belle du Seigneur.

TrustNordisk, which is handling international sales on the project, presold A Second Chance to multiple territories ahead of the American Film Market earlier this year, including Germany, Australia, Japan, Benelux and the former Yugoslavia, with more territories currently in negotiation.
