National Statistical Service released a 2013 report Poverty and Social Panorama in Armenia, with the monthly upper and lowest limit of poverty set at AMD 37 044 ($92,2) and 30 547 ($76); extreme poverty threshold comprised AMD 21 732 ($54).

The report posted a 17,4% poverty rate increase against the 2008 data to reach 32,4% in 2013. Extreme poverty rate grew 1,8 times in the last 5 years, with the number of very poor ones increasing by 7,1%.

In 2012, every third person - 32.4% (980,000) - was poor; 13.5% (408,000) were very poor and 2.8% (85,000) extremely poor.

In July 2013, minimum salary in Armenia was raised to AMD 45,000, up from AMD 32 500. At the same time, jobless rate in the country dropped by 1,2 pct in Q2 2013 to comprise 16,2%.
