Art Directors Guild to honor Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese will receive the Cinematic Imagery Award at the 18th annual Art Directors Guild’s Excellence in Production Design Awards on Feb. 8 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"The ADG has always considered his hands-on pursuit of excellence of production design to equal all of the fine craftsmanship that goes into every aspect of all Martin Scorsese films." said John Shaffner, ADG council chairman.

Scorsese's latest film, Paramount's The Wolf of Wall Street, will be released on December 25.

Scorsese's long list of well-known directing credits include The Departed, for which he won an Oscar for best director, as well as Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas,The Aviator and Hugo. His documentaries include Peabody-award winners No Direction Home: Bob Dylan and Elia Kazan: A Letter to Elia.

The helmer is also founder and chair of The Film Foundation and the World Cinema Project, non-profit organizations dedicated to the preservation, restoration and protection of film.

Also during the ADG Awards ceremony, Rick Carter will receive the Guild's Lifetime Achievement Award, and Robert Clatworthy, Harper Goff and J. Michael Riva will be inducted into the ADG's Hall of Fame.
