WTO agrees first ever global trade deal

The World Trade Organization has agreed its first ever global deal aimed at boosting commerce, BBC News reported.

The agreement reached in Bali, Indonesia, simplifies trade procedures and also makes it easier for the poorest countries to sell their goods. The deal could add nearly $1tn to the global economy, analysts say.

It is seen as an important step for the WTO which has struggled to make new trade agreements, BBC News says.

However, the deal was earlier criticised by development campaigners, who said it was not going far enough.
