Sitting of World Armenian Congress General Council to be Held in Yerevan May 16
The sitting of the General Council of the World Armenian Congress will be held in Yerevan May 16. The sitting will start with laying wreaths to the Memorial to the Armenian Genocide victims. The report of the Bureau of the WAC General Council on the work carried out in 2004-2005 will be given by WAC President Ara Abrahamyan. The WAC tasks referring to conduction of the Armenia-Diaspora forum and draft project of the Days of the World Armenian Congress in Armenia and Artsakh-2006 will be also discussed. The sitting participants will also address to the possibility of opening WAC branches in Diaspora and establishment of the WAC Person of the Year nomination.

In 2006 the WAC intends to engage the Diaspora potential in the economic and social development of Armenia and Artsakh. In part, computer classes will be opened in 100 schools of Armenia and Karabakh, the 2nd International Armenian Economic Forum and International contest of schoolchildren and students will be held. The WAC is also going to establish scholarship for the students from Diaspora studying in the Armenian higher education institutes. Besides, the sitting participants will refer to the organization of summer camp for the youth from Diaspora.
