The government of Armenia approved a master plan submitted by the concessioner - Armenia International Airports CJSC – stipulating for a $ 101,l million in the development of Zvartnots airport within the next 5 years.
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan welcomed the move, noting that the investment will allow boosting the quality of the airport-provided services and developing tourism in Armenia.
The head of the General Department of Civil Aviation (GDCA) Artem Movsisyan, in turn, listed a number of improvements envisaged in the master plan, also covering the issue of a free economic zone.
Referring to the old terminal of the airport, Movsisyan suggested that a new solution must be found. “Creation of an architectural park featuring monuments that used to symbolize the Armenian capital was one of the ideas,” he said, citing a Brussels-located Mini Europe park as an example.
