Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo are reportedly in talks to reunite for a television series based on the hit National Lampoon's Vacation franchise, Digital Spy said.

The duo played married couple Clark and Ellen Griswold in four hit moves, which saw the Griswold family embark on European and Christmas-themed adventures.

This television adaptation is in the works at ABC and Terra Nova's Aaron Kaplan has been lined up as executive producer, according to TV Line.

No script or writer is yet attached to the project, but the premiere would not likely take place before the 2015/2016 television season.

A feature film reboot of the National Lampoon's Vacation series has been in the works over the last few years, with Ed Helms rumoured to be its star.

Chase last worked on television in Community, but exited the show amid much controversy in November 2012.
