Chris Pine to topline “The Line” gritty thriller

Chris Pine is attached to star in The Line, a gritty thriller that will be directed by David Gordon Green, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Sang Kyu Kim, a writer-producer on The Walking Dead, penned the script, which centers on a patrol agent (Pine) who finds himself in a downward spiral on the job and at home after he loses his wife and young son. He unexpectedly becomes the caretaker of a 10-year-old child who is orphaned after a shootout with a criminal cartel. As he protects the young boy by going on the run, the agent discovers he has enemies on both sides of the law and the border.

Pine is currently onscreen with Paramount’s Jack Ryan, and recently shot Disney’s musical Into the Woods. He also wrapped production on Horrible Bosses 2, in which he plays one of the bosses.

Green is better known for action comedies such as Pineapple Express and Your Highness, but went back to his dramatic roots with Joe, a coming-of-age drama starring Nicolas Cage.

Roadside Attractions will release Joe on April 11. He also just wrapped Manglehorn with Al Pacino.
