“Short Term 12” star to topline “Good Luck of Right Now” novel adaptation

Brie Larson is in negotiations to star in the DreamWorks’ adaptation of the Matthew Quick novel “The Good Luck of Right Now”, Variety said.

Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris will direct from a script by Mike White. The book will be published on Feb. 11, 2014.

Quick’s book follows the intertwined lives of four people, who are all outsiders in their own right. However, in grieving over pain and loss in their lives, they come together to form an unlikely family.

Bruce Cohen is producing.

After a star-making role in “21 Jump Street,” Larson landed roles in “The Spectacular Now” and “Short Term 12,” which granted her plenty of critical claim. Following those roles, Larson has now begun landing more female leads in studio pictures rather than supporting roles.

Along with “The Good Luck of Right Now,” Larson also landed the female lead in “The Gambler” opposite Mark Wahlberg and was also up for the role of Sarah Connor in “Terminator: Genesis.”
