German politician urges Turkish PM to apologize for genocide

German Bundestag member Erika Steinbach called on the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to acknowledge the genocide perpetrated by young Turks against the Armenian and Assyrian people 99 years ago and apologize for this crime.

Steinbach also offered to mention the genocide, as well as the assassination of the editor-in-chief of Agos weekly, Hrant Dink, in the textbooks.

According to the German politician, the genocide is a crime proved by facts.

She also addressed the issue of opening of the Armenian-Turkish border that was closed in 1993.
