“Guardians of the Galaxy” unveils new images, details

New images from Guardians of the Galaxy have been released.

Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista feature in the pictures, alongside the team's ship the Milano, Digital Spy said.

Fresh details from James Gunn's Marvel Studios film were also revealed in the USA Today article.

The film will incorporate various concepts and locations from Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's run on the Guardians comic.

The team escapes from the Kyln - an intergalactic prison built on the expanding edge of the universe - and flee to Knowhere - the decapitated head of a Celestial space god - and the menagerie of the Collector (Benicio Del Toro).

They are pursued by Ronan (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen Gillan), who are both after the destructive power of Star-Lord's (Pratt) orb, which could decimate the galaxy.

Star-Lord/Peter Quill is said to offer comic relief with his "'80s references and stunted social graces".

"Being stuck in space with no accountability makes for a strange combination of youthful vibrancy and cluelessness in a childlike man," said Pratt.

"He does some things that most people wouldn't get away with. But part of his arc is being willing to essentially sacrifice himself for the greater good of other people."

Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker, Djimon Hounsou, John C Reilly, Glenn Close, Ophelia Lovibond and Peter Serafinowicz will also feature in the film.

Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on August 1. Its first trailer will premiere on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight (February 18).
