Armenia to host British Film Fest, Japanese cultural events

Armenia will host the12th edition of the British Film Festival dedicated to Inclusion and Communication. The Festival will take place from February 22 to March 16 in Yerevan, Goris, Gavar and Gyumri, British Council Armenia website reported.

In Yerevan, the Festival will take place from February 22 to March 5 in Moscow and Nairi Cinemas.

The opening ceremony of the Festival will take place on February 22 at 16:00 at Moscow Cinema with Summer in February film. Summer in February is based on Jonathan Smith's novel about love and loss among a bohemian colony of artists which flourished in the wild coastal region of Cornwall, before the First World War.

From February 22 to 27 films will be screened at Moscow Cinema (at 17:00 in English, at 20:00 with Armenian subtitles), and from March 1 to 5 at Nairi Cinema (at 16:30 in English, at 18:30 with Armenian subtitles). Only on February 28 the whole day there will be film screenings at Cinema Star Armenia. Entrance is free for all the screenings.

The 12th British Film Festival is organized by the British Council, British Embassy Yerevan, Unicef and ArmenTel CJSC (brand Beeline).

Yerevan will host a kimono exhibit, ikebana and sumi-e painting master classes, the deputy chair of Hikari Armenian-Japanese Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center Lusine Tangyan said.

Armenian Artists’ Union will host the opening of the events March 1. Free entrance is offered for the events, with master classes requiring prior registration.

Also, Armenia will participate in the IX International Orthodox Film Festival Vstrecha in Russia’s Kaluga region. The lineup of the festival, to open February 21, will include 311 feature, documentary and animated films.

The festival will also host participants from France, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus, Serbia, Georgia.
