Nokia has announced three Android smartphones during its Mobile World Congress press conference, lifting the lid on the Nokia X, Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL, Digital Spy said.

The Nokia X and X+ will feature 4-inch touchscreen displays, along with mid-range specs and a forked version of the Google operating system, adorned by live tiles.

Powered by 8225 Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz dual-core processors, the Nokia X and Nokia X+ come with 512MB and 768MB of RAM on board and 3-megapixel cameras on the rear.

All three of the Nokia X handsets feature an IPS LCD, 800 x 480px display.

The devices will serve as a middle ground between the Android and Windows Phone operating systems, allowing Nokia's parent company Microsoft to "reach people it has never spoken to before"

Users will not have access to the Google Play store, but will be able to sideload apps from other platforms onto their handsets.

An array of Nokia and Microsoft services, including Skype, HERE Maps and MixRadio, will come pre-installed on the devices.

The only exclusive feature of the Nokia X+ is microSD expansion and more RAM, although all three phones will come with 10GB of free OneDrive storage.

The Nokia XL comes with a larger 5-inch display and enhanced camera capabilities, with a 5-megpixel snapper on the rear and a 2-megapixel sensor on the front.

Nokia has confirmed that the standard Nokia X is available now costing €89, with the Nokia X+ and Nokia XL coming in Q2 priced at €99 and €109, respectively.
