Formation of "North Alliance" by Azeris in Iran Unlikely
The formation of "North Alliance" by ethnic Azeris in Iran is unlikely, senior specialist of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations at the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Krylov stated in Yerevan. According to him, the integration of ethnic Azerbaijanis into the political and economic life of Iran is one of the major obstacles to the formation of an alliance of the kind. At the same time the Russian political scientist did not rule out a collision between the Azerbaijanis residing in the northern provinces of Iran with Tehran. "This possibility may emerge in case of strong financial assistance by the U.S. to the provinces where the ethnic Azeris live," Krylov noted.
