Pianist Raphael Minaskanian to perform in Los Angeles

Raphael Minaskanian, an internationally acclaimed artist and Iran's pre-eminent classical pianist and professor of music will perform Sunday, March 16, at Colburn School of Performing Arts, Los Angeles, CA.

Minaskanian was born in Tehran, began his musical studies at the age of six, and several years later, he performed the first live broadcast piano recital, on the then newly established Iranian TV, according to the Armenian Calendar.

He studied under the distinguished teacher and composer, Emanuel Melik-Aslanian, and with internationally known master teachers, including UCLA's Aube Tzerko in Los Angeles, Karl Ulrich Schnabel in Italy, Ilona Kabos in London and at the Juilliard School of Music in New York.

Over the past three decades, Minaskanian has continued to teach and perform, making solo, chamber and orchestral appearances in his native Iran, Armenia, Europe, Canada, and the United States.

Minaskanian's unique style and musicianship have consistently won him the acclaim of critics everywhere, and descriptions of "unfailing clarity", "brilliant", "exciting", "poetic", and "unforgettable".

On Sunday, he will be performing Mozart, Chopin, Brahms, Melik-Aslanian.
