Paris-based Indie Sales has come on board Joachim Lafosse’s “The White Knights” (Les Chevaliers Blancs), the Belgian helmer’s follow-up to “Our Children,” which played in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard in 2012, Variety reported.

Focusing on the limits and issues of humanitarian interventions in Africa, “Knights” is inspired by the 2007 Arche de Zoe case, which involved a French charity that attempted to bring 103 children into France from Chad.

French stars Vincent Lindon (“Mea Culpa”), Valerie Donzelli (“Declaration of War”), Louise Bourgoin (“The Nun”) and Reta Kateb (“Dark Zero Thirty”) have joined the cast.

Lindon will play a charismatic NGO director, and Donzelli will topline as a journalist who covers an operation aiming to exfiltrate 300 orphans suffering from the civil war in West Soudan.

Lafosse penned the script with Bulle Decarpentries and Thomas Van Zuylen.

Jacques-Henri and Olivier Bronckart at Belgium’s Versus Prod. are producing with Sylvie Pialat at France’s Les Films du Worso.

One of the highest-profile Belgian projects lensing this year, “Knights” is backed by the film and TV board of Wallonia-Brussels and the Belgian Federal Government Tax Shelter.

The pic’s theatrical release is scheduled for the second semester of 2015. It will be released in Belgium by O’Brother Distribution and in France by Le Pacte. Nicolas Eschbach’s Indie Sales will start shopping the film at Cannes.

The eight-week shoot will start in the region of Erfoud, in Morroco, on March 17.

Lafosse’s last film, “Our Children”- also based on a heart-wrenching true story — was well-received at Cannes, where it earned Emilie Dequenne the Un Certain Regard nod for best actress.
