Pantelion nabs “Get Married If You Can” hit Mexican comedy

Pantelion has acquired U.S. rights to distribute the Mexican hit Get Married If You Can (Casese Quien Pueda) via DVD and other platforms, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Released in Mexico by Televisa subsidiary Videocine, Get Married has grossed about $12 million after five weeks in cinemas. The stateside release is slated for June. Directed by first-time helmer Marco Polo Constandse, Get Married is the latest in a string of successful comedies over the past year in Mexico.

Pantelion, the self-proclaimed "first Latino Hollywood studio," is a Lionsgate-Televisa joint venture.

Pantelion's next theatrical release, the Diego Luna biopic Cesar Chavez, hits theaters Friday, March 28.

Starring Michael Pena opposite Rosario Dawson, Cesar Chavez had its worldwide premiere at the Berlin film fest and recently won the audience award at SXSW.
