George R.R. Martin posts excerpt from new "Game of Thrones" book

"Game of Thrones" fans can now rest assured that there are more stories to tell from Westeros. Author George R.R. Martin has posted on his website an excerpt from "The Winds of Winter", the sixth novel in his "Song of Fire and Ice" series which the HBO show is based on, AceShowbiz said.

The chapter titled "Mercy" centers on a character named Mercedene a.k.a. Mercy. "The new chapter is actually an old chapter," Martin explained on his site. "But no, it's not one I've published or ported before."

Fans were eagerly trying to read the new chapter, causing the site to crash intermittently. "There's a new 'The Winds of Winter' chapter up but George RR Martin's website is down; do you understand my pain," one fan wrote on Twitter. The problem, however, seems to have been solved since the site is now accessible again.

"Game of Thrones" season 4, based on the second half of "A Storm of Swords", will premiere Sunday, April 6 at 9:00 P.M. on HBO. Rose Leslie, who plays Ygritte, recently dished on how her character would be after left by Jon Snow in season 3.

"She's a very different animal," the actress said. "She's not so playful. She shuts up more and is monosyllabic. She's been hurt. We see a very different side of her. It harkens back to wronged woman are dangerous, and she's incredibly dangerous this season. She's on a mission."

She added, "She wants vengeance. She wants to make sure Jon Snow feels as much pain as she feels." In the other hand, Ygritte's "still completely in love with him. She feels like a fool and wants to make him pay."

On whether Ygritte tried to kill Jon when she was shooting him with arrows, Leslie explained, "In my mind, she wasn't shooting to kill him. She wasn't shooting to stop him. I think she was shooting to hurt him. That he wasn't going to get away with leaving without any consequences. She's in love with him and can't bring herself to kill him. She could have killed him in one fell swoop with an arrow through the heart if she wanted to."
