Sex, Lies and Handwriting, the new one-hour procedural from Saving Grace alums Nancy Miller and Annie Brunner, is begin shooting this summer in Vancouver, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The crime series, the first project in a co-financing, development and distribution agreement between Lionsgate and German-based producer/distributor Tandem Communications, will shoot on location in the Canadian city and produced by Sea To Sky Studios, Lionsgate's studio joint venture with Canada's Thunderbird Films.

Loosely based on the Michelle Dresbold’s non-fiction book of the same name, Sex, Lies And Handwriting follows handwriting expert Leslie Bold, whose skills as deciphering hidden motives from reading written notes makes her an unexpected crime-solver. The same skills, however, are disastrous for her private life, as she easily dissects the writing of any love interest, finding out things no one should no on a first date.

Brunner will pen the script for the series with Miller onboard as executive producer and showrunner. Following the straight-to-series model of Tandem and French parent company StudioCanal, all twelve one-hour episodes of Sex, Lies and Handwriting will shoot in Vancouver this summer. France's TF1, German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 and Canada's Bell Media are backing the series, which Lionsgate and Tandem are shopping to buyers at MIPTV this week. No U.S. broadcaster is on board yet.

Tandem and StudioCanal used a similar straight-to-series model for the crime series Crossing Lines, with Criminal Minds showrunner Ed Bernero. Starring Donald Sutherland and Prison Break's William Fichtner, Crossing Lines has just been renewed by its European partners for a second season. Season one debuted last summer on NBC but the network has not yet committed to season two.
