The Hollywood Reporter unveiled the latest, exclusive, stills from FX's Tyrant, the new political drama from the Homeland team of writer/creator Gideon Raff and producer/showrunner Howard Gordon. Raff created the show, developing it with Gordon and Six Feet Under's Craig Wright.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Mid-East set thriller, inspired by the ongoing story of the Arab Spring, stars Adam Rayner as Bassam "Barry" Al Fayeed, the son of a Middle Eastern dictator who, after 20 years living abroad, returns home. When his father dies suddenly, he and his American family are caught up in the political upheaval in the country and forced to stay.

The drama, from Fox 21 and FX Productions, initially had Ang Lee on board to direct (he was later replaced by Harry Potter's David Yates.) Gordon, Raff and Wright executive produce the series, which FX picked up late last year.

Tyrant is one of the hottest of the new dramas screening for international broadcasters at MIPTV this week. 20th Century Fox Television Distribution, which is handling world sales for the series, is counting on the international appeal of the Israeli-shot series.

"It certainly looks like it was produced outside the U.S., it makes it more exotic and fresh to shoot over here," Marion Edwards, President of International Television at 20th Century Fox Television Distribution, told THR from London. "We are catering to a pretty sophisticated audience, it is important to give them something they haven't seen before, it gives the series a different appeal.

The Hollywood Reporter exclusively debuted first-look images from the series, which co-stars Jennifer Finnigan (Crossing Jordan) as Barry's American wife Molly, 24 alum Nasser Faris as his father Khaled Al Fayeed. Other cast members include Ashraf Barhom, Moran Atias, Noah Silver, Anne Winters, Fares Fares, Salim Daw, Justin Kirk, Jordana Spiro and Mehdi Dehbi.

Tyrant premieres on FX this summer.
