Tina Fey, Amy Poehler to reteam for “The Nest” comedy

Golden Globes co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will portray sisters in Universal’s comedy “The Nest”, Variety reported.

Poehler is in final negotiations to star in the project, which Universal has been developing in recent months with Fey and “Pitch Perfect” director Jason Moore on board.

The script is based on an original idea by Paula Pell, who wrote her debut screenplay about two 30-something sisters who come home to find their parents’ house has been put up for sale and then spend a last wild weekend together.

Fey will produce through her Little Stranger banner alongside Jay Roach and his Everyman Pictures. Poehler will also executive produce.

Erik Baiers and Chloe Yellin are overseeing “The Nest” for the studio.

Fey and Poehler appeared together in 2004′s “Mean Girls” and 2008′s “Baby Mama.” They were also cast members of “Saturday Night Live” at the same time from 2001 to 2006.

Pell was an executive producer on Universal’s “This is 40″ and continues to write for “Saturday Night Live.”

Poehler and Fey are represented by WME and 3 Arts Entertainment.

The news of Poehler’s casting was first reported by Showbiz 411.
