Google has reportedly launched a scheme allowing prospective Google Glass buyers in the U.S. to try out a dummy version of the product in their own home, according to Digital Spy.

The web giant is sending out sample headsets to customers on demand, enabling them to hold, touch and wear the device before placing an order, according to 9to5Google.

The dummy devices are said to arrive with no power on board and have deactivated USB ports, preventing the users from charging them.

Google is offering tester models of all four colours of Google Glass, as well as the Titanium Collection editions, as part of the trial.

The try-on programme is free to take part in, but requires a $50 card hold until the sample units has been returned.

It is yet to be confirmed whether Google has plans to eventually launch a similar scheme in the UK.
