VivaCell-MTS, partners discuss environmental project

VivaCell-MTS office hosted Friday, May 16, representatives of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) National Committee of the Netherlands and the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets, the key partners of VivaCell-MTS for environmental projects.

The IUCN NL representatives briefed on the Union’s mission and objectives, as well as on the joint conservation project implemented by FPWC and VivaCell-MTS in Armenia - the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge project in Ararat province.

The measurable increase of wildlife in CWR is a direct indicator of the project’s efficiency, mainly the increase of Bezoar goats, bearded vultures, golden eagles and the presence of the endangered Caucasian leopard in CWR.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a worldwide recognized organization providing the status of protected areas, threatened and endangered animal and plant species summarizing the scientific results gathered from all over the world in the IUCN Red List. The FPWC is one of the two members of IUCN in Armenia and the only project partner of IUCN NL in the Southern Caucasus.

Completing the visit, the IUCN NL coordinator for projects for the purchase of Nature program Marc Hoogeslag awarded the General Manager of VivaCell-MTS Ralph Yirikian with a certificate of recognition for his vast contribution to nature conservation in Armenia.
