Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence’s “Joy” release date set

The dynamic duo of director David O. Russell and star Jennifer Lawrence will return to theaters just in time for Christmas 2015, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Fox has slated Joy, Russell's film about Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano, for release on December 25, 2015.

Lawrence will play the inventor, marking the third collaboration between the Hunger Games star and Russell. She won her first Oscar for her role in Silver Linings Playbook and was nominated for an Oscar for her role in American Hustle.

The film will tell the story of Mangano's transformation from a single mother in Long Island to a QVC star.

The project has a script by Annie Mumolo, the scribe behind Bridesmaids. John Davis and John Fox are producing via Fox-based Davis Entertainment. Ken Mok is also producing.

Christmas 2015 also has Paramount's Mission: Impossible 5 and animated film KungFu Panda 3 slated for release.
