15 militants killed as Pakistani air forces strike areas near Afghan border

Pakistan's air force launched air strikes in tribal areas on the Afghan border on Tuesday, June 10, killing at least 15 militants, the army said, two days after Taliban gunmen seized the country's biggest airport and killed more than 30 in an all-night battle, according to Reuters.

"Nine terrorist hideouts were destroyed by early morning military air strikes near the Pakistan-Afghan border," the army's press wing said.

Meanwhile, according to BBC News, Pakistan's largest airport has resumed operations after an assault by militants which left at least 30 people, including the attackers, dead.

The assault on Jinnah international airport in Karachi began late on Sunday, with security forces gaining control in the early hours of Monday. The Pakistani Taliban have said they carried out the raid as revenge for the killing of their leader last year. A government spokesman said a full investigation was under way.
