Nike releases animated video ahead of World Cup start

Nike on Monday, June 9, released part three of its #riskeverything campaign, an animated feature that is part "The Incredibles," part "The Avengers," and part Dream Team, soccer edition, Oregonlive reports.

The five-minute animated video, introduced the week of the World Cup's start in Brazil, features Nike-wearing/endorsing soccer stars in cartoon form: Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal, Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Sweden (which did not qualify for the Cup), Neymar of Brazil, Andrés Iniesta of Spain, David Luiz of Brazil and Wayne Rooney of England.

Ad agencies Wieden+Kennedy of Portland and Passion of London collaborated with Nike to produced the video. The W+K creative team included Alberto Ponte and Ryan O'Rourke, global creative directors for Nike, based out of W+K Portland. The director was Jon Saunders, of Passion.

"The idea behind 'The Last Game' is to show the world that Nike, like any true lover of football, believes that the game should be brilliant, daring and bold. Having the confidence to take risks is absolutely vital in football. Imagine a world without the brilliance of Cristiano Ronaldo, the acrobatics of Zlatan or the wizardry of Neymar," Nike's chief marketing officer Davide Grasso said in a news release.
