Russian Security Service says six terror attacks prevented in 2014

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has killed 130 terrorists this year, including 21 leaders, and prevented six terrorist attacks, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov said Tuesday, June 10, according to RIA Novosti.

“As a result of a series of preventive measures and military operations, 130 terrorists have been killed this year, including 21 leaders, discovered and eradicated more than 160 terrorist bases and arms caches,” Bortnikov said at the National Anti-Terrorism Committee meeting.

According to the FSB chief, 38 terrorism-related crimes have been thwarted during this period of time, including six terrorist attacks. Bortnikov noted that the FSB has cut the number of terrorist activities almost in half so far in 2014 compared to the same period in 2013.
