Young people visit Armenia for ‘Step Forward’ youth exchange program

June 27 is the last day of international youth exchange program “Step Forward”, which has united 41 young people from Armenia, Croatia, Georgia, Italy, Moldova, Poland, Spain and Ukraine.

The aim of the program was to promote youth cooperation and to support tolerance among young people, as well as to help them to break stereotypic thinking.

The participants had an opportunity to learn about culture and customs of the represented countries, as well as experience the negative impact of stereotypes.

The purpose of the program is to create platform for intercultural dialogue and in this way raise awareness of participants about other cultures.

Different creativity workshops, discussions and group games have been initiated, which are proved to be best methods for self-confidence increase and for creation of intercultural atmosphere of common understanding.

The participants also visited Garni and Geghard, learned about the process of making Armenian lavash.

The “Step Forward” youth exchange was held from June 20 to 27. It was funded by the European Commission in the framework of the European Union’s “Youth in Action” Program and was organized by the efforts of the local youth NGO “Youth for Exchange and Cooperation”.
