Google Camera app update provides support for Android Wear

An update has been rolled out to the Google Camera app, providing support for Android Wear devices, Digital Spy reveals.

The update means that users can now use their smartwatch to command their smartphone to take a photo remotely.

The remote trigger also works with tablets running Android.

Support comes as the first wave of Android Wear devices go on sale, including the LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live.

When launching the updated Google Camera app on your smartphone, a card will display on the smartwatch with a countdown. A preview image also appears on the smartwatch's display once the photo is taken.

Earlier today (July 10) Google pledged to issue an update to correct an issue preventing paid apps from installing on Android Wear.
