New Line to co-produce “Me Before You” bestseller adaptation

New Line has come on board to co-produce MGM’s drama “Me Before You” with MGM and set an Aug. 21, 2015, release date, Variety reported.

MGM is handling production for “Me Before You,” produced by Karen Rosenfelt (“Twilight”) and based on the Jo Jo Moyes’ bestseller of the same name.

Theater director Thea Sharrock is directing from a script by the team of Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (“500 Days of Summer,” “The Fault in Our Stars”) with current revisions by Moyes.

“Me Before You” centers on a young English woman content with her small-town life who’s hired as the caretaker for an affluent Londoner paralyzed in a tragic accident. Both are surprised to receive insight, perspective and ultimately love from the other.

Sharrock’s TV credits include the BBC miniseries “The Hollow Crown” with Tom Hiddleston and the BBC series “Call the Midwife.” Her theater credits include “Equus” with Daniel Radcliffe, “The Misanthrope” with Keira Knightley and “After the Dance.”
