“Dear White People” Sundance comedy trailer

Six months after the movie’s premiere at Sundance, the new trailer for Justin Simien’s “Dear White People” is making pointed observations about how black and white people interact, Variety said.

“Dear white people,” says a black radio DJ at the fictional Winchester College. “The minimum number of black friends to not seem racist has been raised to two. Sorry, but your weed man Tyrone doesn’t count.”

The films stars Tyler James Williams, Tessa Thompson, Teyonah Parris, Brandon P. Bell, Kyle Gallner, Brittany Curran and Dennis Haysbert.

“Dear white people: please stop touching my hair,” the same DJ says. “Does this look like a petting zoo to you?”

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions’ “Dear White People” screened at the Los Angeles Film Festival last month. It bows in theaters Oct. 17.
