Artsakh war veterans said Tuesday, Aug 5, they are ready to form detachments of volunteers to defend the border with Azerbaijan.

“Taking into account the recent Azerbaijani cross-border attacks at the border with Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, the Union of Veterans declares that about 350-400 of Artsakh liberation army soldiers are ready to protect the frontier in Tavush province of Armenia,” they said in a statement, adding that the Union has already requested the Defense Ministry for a relevant permission, according to Armenia Today.

Earlier, a group of Artsakh war veterans gathered at the building of the regional administration of Martakert area of the Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) Republic on Sunday, Aug 3 morning to divide into groups and depart for the military positions of the NKR army.

As Artsakhpress reported, citing Martakert’s Jraberd paper, the volunteers have already arrived at the contact line to share experience with the servicemen.

Also, 100 volunteers from Berdzor (Kashatagh area of NKR) departed for the contact line with the Azerbaijani armed forces to rebuff possible attacks.

“We are ready not only to stay on duty but also to retaliate,” they said.
