Ken Ochiai’s “Uzumasa Limelight” took the Cheval Noir prize at the 18th annual Fantasia Intl. Film Festival in Montreal. Hugh Sullivan’s “The Infinite Man” was named best first film in the New Flesh Award competition while the Satoshi Kon prize for animation went to Mizuho Nishikubo’s “Giovanni’s Island”, Variety reported.

The festival, which ran July 17-Aug. 5, screend more than 160 films in 216 theatrical presentations. The event received a record 129,000 attendees, up 30% from the 2013 festival.

Leo Gabriadze’s “Cybernatural,” Sarah Adina Smith’s “The Midnight Swim” and Bennett Jones’ “I Am a Knife with Legs” had world premiere screenings, while Mamoru Oshii (“Ghost in the Shell”) and Tobe Hooper (“The Texas Chain Saw Massacre”) were presented with lifetime achievement awards. Other significant screenings include “Boyhood,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Welcome to New York,” “Han Gong-ju,” “Rurouni Kenshin – Kyoto Inferno” and “Frank.”

The next edition is scheduled to for July 16-Aug. 4.
