Armenian, Russian leaders meet in Sochi

Armenian and Russian Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin met in Sochi Saturday, Aug 9 to discuss bilateral ties and the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.

At the meeting, the Armenian leader hailed the friendly and strategic ties with Russia in the context of Yerevan's decision to join the Customs Union and Eurasian Economic Union. The President further informed his Russian counterpart on the activities accomplished on the way to the integration.

The Armenian leader further expressed readiness to discuss the Baku-initiated escalation of tensions at the line of contact and the border with Azerbaijan.

Earlier on August 9, the Russian leader met Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, with the Nagorno Karabakh conflict among issues covered.

A trilateral meeting between the Presidents has been scheduled for August 10, with the Karabakh conflict discussion on the agenda.
